Testimonials

My experience has been amazing so far, and that’s largely because of the people I work with… this experience is helping me grow my craft, my bosses are extremely open with the writing and production process, so I feel as though I am learning a lot.

The Penguin

Every day is a new adventure and has been a hands-on learning experience, giving me the opportunity to observe and interact with Oscar award-winning and talented professionals in the wild as I grow in the film industry. I’m excited for what’s to come!

Grilled Cheese

This program opens doors and helps make the dream tangible. I know without this program I would not have had the experience or made the contacts I have. It’s truly unparalleled!

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin

Working on this production has been a great experience so far. It’s great to be able to work with and for, people whose work you admire and has also inspired you. It’s a great team and great sense of community within the crew, I’m grateful and thankful to be apart of this amazing project.

U.S. IATSE Internship

In 2019, Access to Action and IATSE partnered to create a new entry-level pathway into Local 80 (Grip), Local 600 (Camera) and Local 728 (Set Lighting).

Through this unique agreement, candidates are placed in 60-day internships in the grip, camera or set lighting department, where they can perform hands-on work.

After 60 days, the intern enters into an entry-level union position for 30 days to acquire their required days for roster eligibility.

Skills Training

Beyond on set placements, Access to Action provides below-the-line training from industry professionals in a safe learning environment.

In 2024, Access to Action partnered with Brooklyn-based non-profit Reel Works to offer a four-week camera loader training program, delivered by the International Cinematographers Guild.

Access to Action Canada candidates participated in the MBS Illumination Grip & Electric Training Program, receiving comprehensive instruction on grip and lighting from working industry professionals and deepening their knowledge of on-set work.

In November 2023, Access to Action supported NOVAC and Local 478 Art Department in New Orleans on a free two-week script and set building training based on the Warner Bros. TV show The Winchesters.

As part of Access to Action Canada, participants in the Aldergrove, BC mock-set training initiative had the opportunity to test their skills and knowledge of lighting and grip equipment in a mock scenario to help develop their confidence on set.
