Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports

Luis Silberwasser is Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, overseeing a preeminent U.S. sports rights portfolio highlighted by long-standing relationships with the National Basketball Association, NCAA, Major League Baseball and National Hockey League. He is responsible for all aspects  of WBD Sports U.S. partnerships, brands and assets including rights acquisitions, business development and revenue. Silberwasser is also charged with overseeing key growth strategies and global priorities for WBD Sports.

WBD Sports is home to a wide array of premium sports content in the U.S. including multi-faceted media partnerships with the NBA, NCAA, MLB, NHL and United States Soccer Federation, along with the Sports Emmy Award-winning Inside the NBA studio show and marquee franchises such as The Match. Additionally, Bleacher Report – an owned and operated division of WBD Sports – and its influential House of Highlights brand are the leading digital destinations for young sports fans in the U.S.

WBD Sports assets also include several Regional Sports Networks in the U.S., which present some of the most coveted live sports coverage in each of their respective markets – Pittsburgh (Pirates/Penguins), Rocky Mountain (Rockies/Jazz/Golden Knights) and Southwest (Rockets/Astros) regions – while also operating Root Sports in the Pacific Northwest (Mariners/Trail Blazers/Seahawks).

In addition to its U.S. portfolio, WBD Sports features much-loved brands Eurosport, including its upcoming coverage of the Olympic Games in 2024. In 2022, Eurosport merged with BT Sport to create one of the most extensive collections of live sports coverage for fans in the UK and Ireland including the Olympic Games, Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Premiership Rugby, MotoGP, UFC, Boxing, WWE, tennis Grand Slams, cycling Grand Tours and the winter sports World Cup season.

Silberwasser has held several senior leadership positions with Discovery throughout his career including Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer of Discovery Networks International, a portfolio of 185 international networks in 224 countries and territories worldwide. While in the role, he was instrumental in building the company’s international business with a focus on live content and elevating its successful global brands.

Prior to joining WBD Sports, Silberwasser was President of Univision Television Networks Group, overseeing the company’s U.S. broadcast and cable networks including entertainment, news and sports content divisions. He previously served as President of Telemundo Networks, responsible for the Telemundo broadcast network – including its Spanish-language distribution of the 2018 FIFA World Cup – along with Telemundo Studios and NBC Universo.

In addition to his career in media, Silberwasser was Brand Manager at Procter & Gamble, where he led top beauty care brands for its U.S. division.

Silberwasser holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
